I went for a ride in my neighbor's Land Rover today. It's big enough for the family but it still has the "young/fun" attitude to it. Lot's of space for hauling kids and "stuff" and it's very good in the snow or the sand.... I don't know about cost or gas consumption but I'll bet it's not too much more then the Hummer 3. There are other things to consider as well. The Jeep will not accomodate the entire family seating wise. The Hummer would be more expensive in the gas arena for commuting... A Jeep can go anywhere and it's an adventurer's car. Lot's of fun to be had in the mountains or at the beach in a jeep! My cousin Nellis has a Hummer 3. She likes it, but she's not in love with it.
