Alexander Sux!
Everyone has experienced horrible movies, right? I suppose it varies by personal taste, but now and then you see a real “clunker”. I remember someone at work had told me that Moulin Rouge was their favorite & I had heard on the radio that it was up for Academy Awards and such. At a family gathering, I was sent to rent a video and I foolishly chose that one thinking we were in for a real treat. Twenty minutes into the flick, everyone was like… “What kind of nonsense is this?”
Today, we watched Alexander. I was quite excited to see this as he is one of my favorite characters in history. Some of my fondest quotes derive from his exploits. Sayings like… “When Alexander looked out and surveyed the breadth of his domain, he wept, for he had no more worlds to conquer.”
As I read the list of cast members on the DVD case, I saw names like Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer, Angelina Jolie and I’m thinking I’m about to watch an epic production! Boy was I disappointed.
This movie definitely had a homosexual agenda. It was simply “pretty boys” wearing eyeliner running around hugging, kissing on the lips, and exchanging meaningful looks. The whole premise of it was very stupid to me. I can only liken it to a director doing a remake of First Blood & putting Rambo in a dress! I mean seriously, who the heck cast this movie? What were they smoking?
Alexander, the greatest warrior the world has ever known… looked like a Fruity California Surfer Dude and his best friend looked more female than male. In between the gory battles complete with dismemberment, decapitation, impaling, stabbing, hacking & slashing… Alexander and his “best friend” look soulfully into one another’s eyes and profess their undying commitment toward each other. Either that, or Alexander is too busy watching a male concubine dance sexily for him. I’m kidding you not… I almost blew chunks!

I know to leave this one off my list.
I would have expected more, too.

There have been a rash of disapointng movies lately. Hopefully, the pre-holiday movies will have something worth putting down $8.00 for.

Barb and Phyllis, I’d almost like for ya’ll to watch this and give me your take on it!! lol I almost felt as if Hollywood was trying to make their own social statement here. Like they were trying to desensitize the gay phobia. I certainly don’t think that agenda fit in with this flick at all!

My husband and I watched Alexander a few days ago,
(thank the LORD we put the kids to bed first!) and I must say the most entertaining part of it all was watching my husband freak out, (well, maybe I did enjoy seeing Colin Farrell’s bare butt, just a little!). The entire time we were watching it, my husband kept saying over and over, “I can’t believe you rented this S***!”
But like you, I looked at the cast and just knew he would love it.
Alexander sucked in more than one way!

A’ight Stephanie… Just don’t start talking about Purple Dinosaurs or I might ‘hurl’ again! I had enough of that with three toddlers to last me several lifetimes!

Lol tasha,
Yeppers, I suppose I reacted like your husband and freaked out a bit. I don’t want to go as far as terming myself a “homo-phobe” and I think I have a more liberal stance on gays than most of the “Christian Right”. As far as I’m concerned, if people want to be gay… they can go and be gay to their heart’s content. If it’s a Sin, then they’ll have to answer for it. Heck, we all have our own unique set of “Sin Baggage” we carry around. I just don’t want to see it! It’s repulsive to me. I certainly don’t want to see a movie full of inuendo about it!
Furthermore, that scene you’re referring to regarding Colin Farrell’s Rump… well, that certainly was in view, but I saw a bit more “dangling” there if you catch my drift?
Oh… and btw, thanks for sending Wendy that Pix. That was too cute. Very sweet of ya’ll to rescue the bambi. Plus it was kewl seeing you in the pix. Always nice for me to be able to put a face to the posts around here!

I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THE DANGLES! LOL
That was quite shocking I must say. That movie was just ….I don’t even have the words, well I do, but that would add to my ’sin-baggage’, huh?
Anyway, I think that you and Wendy really seem like nice people, I really enjoy the blogs! I get a new laugh almost everyday.
I’m glad that you guys enjoyed the pic, you wouldn’t believe the critters I get. Right now, I have a baby skunk, 2 baby raccoons, a hawk, and a baby squirrel. It is literally a “zoo” at my place.
Ya’ll take care!

I’m scared to Ride the Wild Toad Stephanie!! Any movie such as that in my house is played continuously for several days until the script is memorized verbatim.
The squirrel is still mocking me. Apparently, he hides in his tree hollow until I leave, Then shows himself full force to the boys. Upon returning home from work, I have to endure stories of how the squirrel scampered across the woodpile, then took a leisurely stroll across the front yard where he lies down and basks in the sun for 30 minutes only to retire to his tree just prior to my arrival home!

Thanks for the compliment tasha. I must say that it is totally bizarre to me how folks whom I’ve never met find their way to my blog and start conversing! It makes the internet strange yet wonderful. Even if the topic of banter is “dangles”! hehehee
