OK… allow me to preface the above pix with some background info. Where I live, plots of land are in parcels of several acres or more. Many houses, such as my own, are not visible from the road. All one can see is a mailbox and a lane leading back into the woods.

So we are driving home the other day, and apparently the neighbor two houses down has decided to erect this sign at the end of his driveway. I had to stop and get wendy to roll down her window to take this pix. I told her it was too “blog-worthy” to pass up! Give ya an idea of my “Neighborhood”? Do you think Mr. Rogers would approve? hehehe

If Harry Potter is not your thing, I suppose you should skip this post now. If you haven’t read the book and plan on doing so, I also suggest you skip this post as it will be one very large *Spoiler* for you.

That booklight wedge I blogged earlier sure earned its keep last night. Wendy and I were reading, we started around 10p.m. At midnight, a power outage occured and all went black. We didn’t miss a beat continuing to read by its light. I can also tell you the thing is better than just about any flashlight I’ve ever owned. Several times either of us had to get up and wonder thru the house for a drink, or to check on the kids. The Harry Potter Lumos Booklight shone a bright beacon lighting the path well. All in all, we stayed up till we finished the entire book… I’d say around 4a.m. but I’m not 100% positive cuz the clocks were all out. B.T.W… the power didn’t return to our house until noon today!

We started reading about 10a.m. this morning. Wendy and I are taking it in turns to read to each other. We are just over half way thru it. She’s petered out and took a nap. I made the kids dinner and did the dishes. I’m in Harry Potter Heaven as the book is awesome so far. I’ll let her sleep for another hour maybe, then we’ll read into the wee hours of the morning!! (Evil Grin)

Looking at the clock, I see that in just over 5 hours, I’ll be able to purchase a copy of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince. The question gnawing at me is whether I should make a midnight run as just about all bookstores will be open to capitalize on this frenzy. I have heard that the crowds at these events are impossible. Will I be able to control myself? Common sense tells me to just wait till the morning. Besides, I don’t know of a Starbucks open at midnight.

While we were at the Mall today, we stopped by a bookstore and I got treated to some early Birthday presents. These will go perfect with my forthcoming reading marathon. Something that has been on my wishlist for a long time now presented itself. A Harry Potter Lumos Booklight. If you’re not a Harry Potter fan, you will have no clue what Lumos means. It’s a “Spell” that Wizards/Witches cast to turn their Wand into a flashlight of sorts. Check out the pix…

For those of you who haven’t noticed, I’ve finally put something in the “About Me” section of my blog. I’ve been adding many snippets over the last few days. Everything from trivial personality quirks to political views. Anyhoo, if you’ve never met me before, and ya wanna know how weird I am. Check it out!

After almost 15 years of wearing prescription eyeglasses. I somehow got it into my head that I wanted to give contact lenses a try. Perhaps it was the sore spot behind my ears every evening… or the divets and red marks on each side of my nose. Whatever the reason, I made an appointment this morning and I now own my very first pair of contacts.

They actually have a “Training Session” to teach you how to put them in and take them out. It only took me about 20 minutes to get them in on my first try… hehehe… Well, she actually told me this was quite good and that in no time I would be an expert. We shall see.

My first reaction was that I felt “Naked” without my glasses. This is going to take some getting used to. My next reaction was how bizzare it felt to actually see normally without my glasses on. And finally, it feels weird to have an extra layer added to your eyeballs… I mean, you generally don’t even notice that you’re wearing them but when I blink… my eyelids can sort of feel them. I don’t know, this is all very new to me.

If I wasn’t a chicken, I might consider that laser eye surgery. I even know a few people whom have had it done and they swear by it! I just don’t feel comfortable with having portions of my eye burned with a laser… Not yet anyways!

I have a newfound enthusiam for photography now that I’ve figured out some of the buttons and dials on my camera. This morning, Timothy and I jumped on the ATV for a picture taking adventure. We filled a canteen with ice water and I designated him the official “Interesting Thing” finder. His job was to find photo-worthy material. Here are some of the results of our adventure!

Too Sexy For My Hair
First, I give you Timothy… He’s posing like he’s “All That”. I don’t know where he got those Will Smith ears from!

A Mushroom
While we were getting ready, in the front yard, he found this. I am not quite sure, but I think it’s the beginnings of a mushroom. Made for a pretty neat pix though.

First Butterfly
Behind the woodpile, he found this awesome looking butterfly!

A Blue Flower
On top of the mountain, he spotted this blue flower, these are Wendy’s favorite.

Second Butterfly
We came across a different butterfly, this pix turned out real nice.

A Doe and two Fawns
On the way down, we came across a Doe and her two fawns grazing. I had to take this pix with the zoom lens sitting atop a running ATV so it wasn’t the greatest, but you get the idea.

Praying Mantis
When we got home, we found this little fella and brought him up on the porch for a better pix. In my opinion, the Praying Mantis is the kewlest insect around.

Can anyone out there tell me from what tree these blossoms come from? There is a tree down my lane that is sprouting these things all over it. Quite interesting they are, I don’t recall that I’ve ever seen them before. They are each about the size of a Pine-cone.
